Currently one is running Consultation of the European Commissionto seek the views of stakeholders and citizens on the policy alternatives to reducing microplastic inputs to the marine environment.On 16.01.2018 the
European Commission's new plastic strategy

G7 Action Plan
In view of the global challenge to marine ecosystems posed by littering and in recognition of the need for a global movement to combat marine pollution by waste, the G7 countries agreed on an action plan at their 2015 summit meeting in Elmau under the German Presidency. It addresses sources on land and at sea, the question of the removal of waste from the sea, and research and public relations work. Under the Italian G7 presidency, the work process was further deepened and formalised in the Bologna Declaration of the G7 Environment Ministers
in June 2017.
