Ice-Land

The Arctic regions are particularly affected by global climate change, where average temperatures have doubled over the past 50 years. Greenland plays a key role here, as 80 percent of the island is covered by a mighty ice sheet. Shorter and warmer winters and significantly higher temperatures in summer accelerate the loss of inland ice mass. This is further aggravated by the equally massive decline in sea ice. The melting of Greenland's inland ice and the decline in Arctic sea ice are both seen as tipping points for global climate development.
